Hi Folks,
(1995, 540i 6spd)
About 2 weeks ago I noticed a new sound. A high-pitched
gear whining noise that was tied to vehicle speed
(not transmission input shaft speed). It's
slowly but surely getting louder. I can't
tell if it's the trans output shaft, the
center bearing, or the differential).

Does anyone know of any common failures with any
of these specific "systems" on e34 6spds?

Other info: New clutch going in next month and dealer
changed trans/diff fluids per BMW maint. schedule
4 months ago. Used Redline synth in the trans and
BMW OEM lube in the diff.

Thanks all!

John
