All e34 have to be copied at the dealer or a locksmith, I tried getting my 1989 525 key copied at a hardware store and they werent able to do it because of the key shape, electronic coded or not

Is this for your '93? If it is, than there are no special requirements for this key - the electronically coded key was not introduced on the 525 until the '95 model year. The local hardware store can make a copy of this key as long as he has the blank. Note: hardware store blanks are brass, not steel like the OEM keys, so they tend to deform (twist) a little with use.


I called the stealer - they want $60. Anyone know of an alternative? I'm assuming the local hardware store can't make a copy.
