There is a clip securing the armrest. Lift door panel upwards once the perimiter clips and screw in release handle are removed. The tweeter on the A pillar needs to come out first. To re-install, take the plastic clip off the door frame and re-attach it to the door panel (observe the direction the clip was installed)

I have a 92 535i and I have never removed a door panel from this car, I got most of it undone but I can't figure out how to unscrew the low bolt on the arm rest I got the screw behine the mirror controls already, all I need is that one screw.... I give up how do I get to it????
