How to swallow a golf ball (archive)

As I walked towards the car leaving the store, I noticed a bright white object next to the right headlight. As I got closer, I could see that it was behind the grille although the grille looked just fine.

It seems I had "picked up" a golf ball while driving down the freeway at night (remember hearing a slight thunk, like road debris in the tires). It had hit the grille and cracked two adjacent horizontal ribs, got behind the grille and allowed the plastic to return to its normal position. Hard to tell the grille is cracked.

Oh well, good time to replace those low beams :-)
