Looking at a '91 535i.. need advice before buying (archive)

the car. 130k, 5spd, clean ext/int, stock whls, owner (BWM mechanic,had it for a few years) asking $9,900 but will sell for $9,400. Any advice? Car drives good but rides a little soft for my taste. What are the E34 years to avoid and how well does the OBC last? TIA
