Does your friend know he's running a tire diameter that's off 4.9% from stock? The 7-series tires are 225/60-16s stock, so why is he even running 225/55-16s? If he upgrades to 17 inch wheels he should go with something more like a 235/50-17.

The tires mounted on the E38 rims are 225/55-16 Pirelli P7000 SuperSports. My friend was saying that the tire profile/shape will vary a bit from manufacturer to manufacturer... perhaps the P7000's have more sidewall bulge?
