Sugar in gas. Happened to me... (archive)

I had this happen to me. Old Fiat Spyder.

On my '68 Fiat:

Drain tank. Safely dispose of Gas.
Flush tank and metal fuel lines with water.
Blow out lines with compressed air.
Let tank dry for days.
Replace fuel filter, fuel pump. Both clogged with sugar.
Rebuild carb. (It was clean, i doubt i needed to to that)
Refill with gas. Use lots of fuel system drier.


sugar in gas tank(sabbatoge)! car quit running, what needs to be replaced. Whould it be cheaper to by new engine.
