I think I paid about $60 for my last battery. I bought it from a local car parts store (O'Reileys) and it looks just like the original.

old the battery is? It says original BMW battery, but does not have a date printed on it. The car was purchased new in December 1995. Do batteries go dead in 5 years (assuming this is the original battery)? I live in chicago, so the winters are cold. Also, how much is a new battery like that (Interstate--something like 800 cranking)? It is a big battery and weighs about 50 pounds.
