I am still in shock. It's totally unbelievable to me. Dale was my idol. I have been a huge fan of his since I was in elementary school back in the late 80's and always liked him the best because I just thought he had the coolest looking car. I was a genuine fan. I was watching the race when it happened. I didn't worry. He had taken harder hits than that. That crash was nothing...or so all my buddies and I thought. I was out running errands and came home. My dad had the TV on CNN. My fiancee heard them say those painful words and she nearly broke down in tears. I nearly collapsed. NASCAR will have an empty feeling from now on. It will be hard for me to watch now. I just can't imagine a race without seeing that black #3 running up on the bumper of the guy in front. My heart goes out to Theresa, Dale Jr., and the rest of the Earnhardt family as well as Dale Earnhardt Inc and Richard Childress Racing. I wish you to be strong as Dale and get through this tragedy. My somber congratulations out to Michael Waltrip for finally winning his first race and the biggest NASCAR has to offer. I just wish your boss was able to enjoy the victory with you.

RIP Ralph Dale Earnhardt. I shed tears for you, as do thousands of others. You will be missed.
