Strange noise/vibration when in Reverse (archive)

My '94 530i just started making a strange humming/rubbing noise when backing out of driveway after a cold start.

A slight vibration can be felt in center console too.

After it warms up I can't get it to do it again until maybe the next morning.

Recently had flex disc and tranny fluid replaced.

Besides an occasional "thump" into reverse, the tranny shifts very well.

Any help appreciated!
