in neutral, remove fill plug and trans fluid should just seep out of the hole. Otherwise add ATF until it seeps out the fill hole. Re install plug, make sure to use a new washer on the plug.

You should be changing the ATF and filter kit ($29 US) every 30,000 miles to maintain reliability. You could go longer when using synthetic ATF. Good luck -Jim



How do you check the trans fluid level in a 95 525i? no manual with car and today I searched for a dip stick and couldn't locate one. There is a small reseviour on the front left fender marked ATF only, but I believe this is the steering fluid. Help! Thanks
