Hi all,

Two days ago, while driving out of a car park lot, my 89' 525i acted up on me. The car's steering locked up and I lost the brakes. Fortunately, I managed to steer the car to the side and prevented a major accident.

After restarting the car, it was fine. My mechanic scanned the car and said that it was the Coolant Temperature Sensor. He replaced it and the car seems ok now.

My question is...what else could cause the bimmer to shut down like that. A fiend of mine who drives the same car had the same thing happen to him when his main fuse blew. He was travelling about 80km/h at that time and he lost all brakes and control of the car. He only stopped when the car hit the kerb.

This is a dangerous situation! I thought bimmers are suppose to be safe?? Anyone else had an experience like this? What can we do to ensure that this does not happen again, what should we look out for?

Thanks.
