I'm not sure. I'm having the same problem. I can't contact the prior owner either. I was going to start calling dealers in the area that the prior owner lived.


I finally got a chance to change the oil on my '94 540 that I bought almost 6 weeks ago. Unfortunately, I bought the vehicle not knowing about the Nikasil-Alusil blunder
I checked the block #'s while under the car yesterday, and found the following numbers:

1745872a
96

Alusil...sweet! Next question, how do I find out exactly when the motor swap was done, I have no way to get in contact with the owner I purchased the vehicle from. Can the dealer help me on this?
