Check engine light is an emissions based light, so chances are that your culprit has something to do with the fuel delivery system. This would include the O2 sensor, which could cause your car to run rough and/or stall if it were bad. Your oil should be fine (unless you see the oil light come on...). I'm not sure if the light will come on due to a bad fuel filter or fuel pump, but maybe?

Usually, the O2 sensor is bad when you have a check engine light and a stalling car. The 02 sensor is supposed to be replaced at 100k on the 525, but often they go bad before then. Part is less than $100, labor should be about 1 hour. Previous owner got screwed by a mechanic when he had it replaced - they put on a used one and charged him $250 for the part!

Hope that's all it is,

So I tried to pick up my car from the dealer yesterday and when I started it it was ok, but when I put it in reverse and stepped on the gas it stalled out. Ok so this is strange, I try it again same thing. Now I'm iritated, the car goes in for a sunroof problem and ends up no running. So I let the car warm up a couple of minutes and the problem seems to have gone away. I'll track it and see how it goes. So 2 miles down the road the engine check light comes on "Oh great", I pull over and check oil. right in the middle where it should be, and not 2 days before had it on the open road w/ no problems. So I left it back at the dealer thinking thay they might have accidentally screwed something up. Any help would be appreciated.

thanks
