On some models (93 525i) the bleeder is a small screw next to the filler canister.

There is an 8mm bolt at the top of the thermostat housing that when turned about a quarter turn will vent the cooling system. Turn open this bolt upon inital filling of the system until you get a steady stream of coolant. Make sure your heater controls are set to full on heat mode. After inital filling, start and warm up the motor and repeat the venting process by opening the bleed bolt and venting out trapped air. Keep repeating this process until no more air bubbles are noticed. Hope this helps.
