Okay, I think I have the Touch of Death...no lite! (archive)

Sorry for the double post... anyhow, here's the story. I splice the wires, and fire the headlights up... no light. But, the highs work fine. I then test the headlight's clips for the lowbeams... 12V on either side. Okay... maybe I got 2 bad bulbs in the lows and 2 good ones in the highs? So I swap out a highbeam bulb, and put it in a lowbeam... no go. Damn. So I put it back in the highbeam, and it doesn't work anymore! Aaaaargh. So, I have 1 working highbeam. =) Can somebody PLEASE tell me what's up? Is there some trick to these H1s? I plug it in, and put the other clip on the post like it was, and swing the arms down... but no go. I'm afraid to try the other highbeam bulb, cuz I'm scared it won't work either. Anyone know what's up with these things???
