I did the high-flow Dinan air tube and noticed a "slight" difference in power - once you compare stock vs. the Dinan tube visibly there is a huge difference in inlet size. Someone on this board made their own - it's not anything special . . . In fact you may be dissapointed in what you "actually" get for $100.
Nick, I noticed "more" power by cutting my muffler off than I did with the air tube by itself - I'm sure thay work well together. If you're looking for more "off the line" performance, consider a differential. I got a 3.15 limited slip(stock is an open diff) from Vines BMW used for less than $500. I think it is out of a 750il. It made a nice difference - it really compliments other mods too!! I did the Conforti chip, Dinan air tube, Dinan tranny chip - it felt much better, but the differential really woke the car up - it didn't change the mileage either!! http://www.vinesbmw.com ask for Jack.
I'm sure you guys have seen it before, but look at the video clip link at the bottom of the page, it'll give you an idea of how your car would launch with the gearing/trannny chip setup.
