I recently had my 540i's alternator and battery replaced (not cheap) after storing the car over the past winter. This involved disconnecting all fuses one by one to discover a short circuit in the alternator.

I recently noticed that the SRS light goes on for about 40 seconds and then turns off every time. Checked the manual and it indicates it should go off after about 6 seconds. So, something must not be right. I am not sure that the alternator's replacement was the fault, or if there is indeed a real problem here.

Before I take it for service to check this issue, I'm wondering if any one has had any similar experiences to learn from.
