Sounds more like the temp sensor on the thermostat (archive)

This morning (about 32 degrees), car started just fine, let it warm up for the kids. 15 minutes later idling about 1500 rpm. By the time I got the car home 10-15 mins later its was idling at 4500 rpm. Scary.

Check the idle valve replacement in Bentleys. Said remove the intake manifold. Is this really necessary?
