I'd like to take a survey of mileage on Automatics out in the field. I currently have 75K on my 94 525iT and am planning an keeping the car for at least 5 years and stack some miles on it. I've recently read an excellent article 'Tech Q & A' in the latest BIMMER magazine regarding E34 transmissions. Specifically the GM A4S310R & ZF 4HP24 units. Apparently when you changge the fluid in these units the design is such that you only aare able to drain about 3.1 liters of the total 8.8 liter capacity unless you remove the torque converter. The conclusion is the days are numbered on these units and no one can say how much one can expect to get out of them..
Please let the forum know how many miles you have on your transmissions...
I would like to know so I can plan accordingly in my endeavors with my car. I have it services at 30K intervals and things are great...
Look forward to hearing from you...

I have changed teh fluid regularily and everything seems to be fine. It is on a 89 535i.
