That's the warning triangle, my car was a european delivery and by German law it was supposed to be fitted with the warning triangle and the first aid kit under the passengers seat.

What is the white thing-a-ma-bob on top and the black brackets below it? What is their purpose in life? These are missing from my kit. Therefore, before today I didn't know what I was missing. Do I really need them in my search for the Holy Grail and to make my life complete? Right now I've just put a multi-purpose screwdriver in place of the white gadget.
