are you sure it wasn't leaking ATF from the power steering system - if it shifted fine, but way down on fluid... the power steering pump, etc., is close enough to engine parts to spray liquid on hot stuff...

Was riding along with the family today and all the sudden smoke started coming from everywhere. Stopped the car and looked underneath......transmision fluid was leaking out rapidly.Drove the car back home and it shifted fine(89-535i Auto)Just a big pool of tranny fluid. Did i blow some seal ...advice please.
Guess this means Im not runnin at the track tommorrow.
