We have a 95 540i with 66k miles and it drinks gas at the rate of approximately 21 mpg - city driving. When driven hard, it's about 16 mpg.

Yours might need a tune-up... check your tire pressure, unload unnecessary weight, and ease up on the accelerator.

Also stay away from alcohol-based gasoline as they burn faster. e.g., 10 gallons at Texaco or Chevron will give you more miles than 10 gallons at Arco (example only).



Can anyone tell me what's real consumption for 1994 540i with 96000 miles automatic because right now I'm getting around 15 miles per gallon
