Got my car appraised for $5k less than market value due to "Nickelite" ? Engine. Something about Aluminum V.S. some other kind of metal alloy for the engine block. Can any body clarify for me. Is the old engine likely to "disintegrate" over time ? Help !!!

I used to work for a dealership and we would change out a block with that problem at least twice a month. I not postitive but I has something to do with scoring near the top of the cylinder in a way that ruins the engine. I've seen what the effects are and they are not pretty. It is a clear defect in engineering by Bmw. I never saw one that wasn't replaced out of warranty. i can't tell you exact details only htat you should get it looked at. SORRY.
