I took my car into the shop on Friday morning to have the DK Motor replaced to fix the surging/can't/no idle problem. Turns out 92's with ASC don't have ICV's. While driving into downtown Denver I was stuck behind somebody driving a disposable grocery-getter, that should have been disposed of a long time ago, on an off-ramp who seemed to be pretty preoccupied doing a plethora of things besides actually driving, my pet peeve, especially if I'm on my motorcycle. The lane we were in merges abruptly with a busy street and while I was busy trying not to tailgate him too badly and fighting sunrise glare I ended up hitting the curb with my front right wheel causing some rash. Damn!
My buddy picked me up in his pristine 1987 535is 5spd and he needed to stop off at one of his accounts on the way to where we both work. As he was driving through the parking lot he drove through this open ditch between the rows and although it didn't look it the front end of the car just kept going deeper and deeper until we heard some really bad scraping. It ended up cracking the air dam to the point of ruining it. That's going to cost him about $500. Damn!
The DK motor fix turned out to be $875 when it was all said and done. Damn!
I trust my mechanic completely. I know precisely what he paid for the part and the car runs great so I have no complaints other than I wish I could have put the $ towards upgrades.
I was in shorts and sweating while I washed the car today and in the last 3 hours the temperature has dropped 40 degrees and it's snowing and blowing steadily and visibility is about 1500 feet. Damn!
Guess it's time to get out the skis again!?
Thanks for letting me vent!
Patrick
