Although BMW have a recommended set of pressures they are predicated on a balance bwteen comfort and driveability. Also, they vary from country to country. Therefore it becomes an individual choice based on driving conditions and the level of performance you require.

Personally, I run 35 psi front and 38 rear. This is for around town and carries teh whole family. For longer distances this goes up to 40 rear and 36 front. Pressures increase according to load as well.

The short answer is not under 30 psi and rarely over 40. Remember too that pressures have an impact on understeer and oversteer as well.

My suggestion for you is to try 36 rear and 34 front to start with. This is a safe compromise for driving around town. Then experiment using an accurate pressure gauge, not one from a service station and only adjust when cold. Write down your pressures so you know what you like.

As you have gathered, it is a combination of personal taste and car need.

Hope this helps,

Geoff
