The vent hole could be clogged. Take the screw completely out & poke a wire down it & let it gravity feed with the engine off & the coolant cap off. Also, squeeze the hoses to burp any air left in it.

I replaced the heater control valve on my 95 525i yesterday. I didn't drain the cooling system for the job so afterward I decided to add coolant the then bleed the system to make up for the small amount that was lost during replacement. I followed the instructions in Bentley, but was confused.

Bentley says to fill to cold mark, loosen bleed screw then fill till coolant exits blead screw. Well I filled and filled almost to the top without any coolant exiting bleed screw.

Do I need to completely fill reservoir, to blead out all the air, then run engine and bleed again? Do I then need to drain the coolant back to the cold mark after the engine cools?

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.
