Mine did the same thing. Got a used one from Bimmerworld for about $20. I took the old one apart to see if it could be fixed, and they cannot be repaired.

My Driver's side visor will no longer stay where I tilt it; meaning it's on the metal shaft just fine. However, when I spin it forward or backward on that shaft the visor just points straight down, blocking my vison. Swings like an old hinge.

How do you open one of these? Since they contain a light and mirror I know they'd be expensive at the dealer.

Can any of you shed light on this subject?
