richer, counterclockwise makes it leaner. I would not go more than a turn in either direction.
2. If the afm is not working the car won't run,so it has to be working somewhat. Its unlikely that its the problem. More likely the temp sensor or the O2 sensor.
3. That converter was not mine, The way they could tell it was bad was it had that telltale converter rattle, plus the pieces had plugged the exhaust enough that there was no power.
4. Check the temp sensor and the O2 sensor. Check the air filter and the spark plugs, the 8mm wires are a waste of money but they shouldn't hurt anything. Adjust the valves, check tire pressures and keep them fairly high. Check for any dragging brakes. If your cruising at say 50 and you put it in neutral does it coast freely or slow down rapidly? A bad torque converter will decrease mileage as well.
5. Too low of fuel pressure will hurt the gas mileage as well. If the pump is damaged and not putting out full pressure then the spray pattern on the injectors will not be a fine mist and won't mix as well and burn cleanly. Check your fuel pump pressure
I don't exactly remember who posted message about playing with a hex screw on Air Flow meter - That's exactly what i am doing now and here comes my first question and pictures
If you look at the pictures which way do you have to turn this screw (i guess it needs to be tightened)???

My second question is.... I don't have and actually don't know how to check with a voltmeter if my Air Flow meter is working at all - what are the symptoms of NON working Air Flom Meter???
This one goes to Bill R. : Bill you posted a picture of your broken cat - how did you find out it was bad????
My car is running really rich ( i think it is somehow connected to AFM - i am probably wrong with this assumption)
and i know that running too rich will damage Catalytic in some time... I am trying to fight my low MPG (11-12 MPG mostly city driving) and everything else is working properly (tuned up, but i have doubts in 8 mm ignition wires
from Bavarian). What else could contribute to low MPG?
I know that 535 isn't exactly a Civic and i have 18 inch wheels and it is auto - many people told me that it's a good consumption but 10 dollars for gas per day is kind of makes dents in my wallet
Another possibility is my fuel pump - i ran the car out of gas many times (part of MPG calculation project) and as Bill R posted pump that sucks air instead of fuel will go "south" - So can a BAD fuel pump contribute to a bad MPG?
So if anyone has ideas about anything that i've posted i'd appreciate an effort to help me in my quest.
Sorry for a really long post
Have a safe drive
