Was looking at 94-95 540's when I heard about the problems with the engines. Posted hear and Bruno recommended a 535. Investigated and decided to go with the 535.

Bought an 1989 535 - 5 speed. Should I put a chip in it and if so which one is best across the board?

: I wish I had a 535. I have a '94 530i 5-speed. I have had no nikasil problems, YET. But I will probably sell mine soon before it does. I chipped mine and it runs great. The only chip for mine is the Conforti chip. If you run premium gas, there is no reason not to chip it.
