I didn't, because the part of the bearing that is on the spindle isn't suppose to turn, that is why it is a little bit hard to put it on. But I don't think it is a big deal if you put some.

The 46mm socket cost me $5.00, the best 5 bucks ever spent. Actually it is a 1-13/16.

Bruno, Do you think its wise to put some axle grease on the spindle before installing the Wheel Bearing assy? I did as a precaution. Not sure if it was necessary.

Another great procedure! Thats one hell of a fancy 46mm socket!! LOL!

I've got to change my front left wheel bearing. Do they have to be replaced in pairs? Also, is it easy to remove without the special BMW wheel hub remover? Secondly, if I've never changed my thrust arm bushings before, is it easy to remove without again... the BMW bushing press? Or should I just get the whole thrust arm with the bushings installed? Bavauto is my usual supplier. FYI, '94 530i with 84k miles. Any and all info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
