I just purchased a 1993 model 525 with 128k on the odometer and I am pleased, so far.

As recently mentioned on this digest, you should be expecting to "rebuild" the front suspension. It is time for shocks both front and rear. You may be in need of thrust struts with bushings and control arms with bushings. The parts cost alone for the shock work will run from $400 to $500.

NOTE: The 1992 model year 525 uses R-12 freon as a refrigerant while the 1993 model 525 uses R-134. Dealing with an R-12 system is getting very expensive and converting an R-12 system doesn't yield the best results.

Assuming you will be keeping the car for a number of years to come, with its age you should expect A/C work to be needed. In general terms, it could cost up to $1000 more to have an R-12 system than a R-134.

In summary, try to find a 1993 model instead of the 1992 model.
