I also had that ticking noise. The Stealership I bought it from said "It's normal VANOS noise". Wrong. It was the hydraulic lifters not being fully serviced with oil. My guru mechanic (ahmmmmmmmmmm) suggested LubroMoly MOS2 treatment and it worked. I've used it ever since. The ticking noice I was getting is similar to what you hear when you crank up for the first time in a while......usually it goes away after a few seconds of idle.....if not, try the LubroMoly.
