'91 525i problems (archive)

I just picked up a '91 525i with 157k miles. It rides great but I have a few things to straighten out:
1) It usually takes 3 turns of the key to start the car, unless it is warm. 3rd turn, starts like a champ.
2) It has a bad shimmy when I am going uphill at speed. It seems like I have to be going about 50 or more and up hill before it starts. Hit flat road and it goes away. Also, it doesn't happen when I use cruise control.
3) Previous owner set timer to go off at :59 of every hour. NO manual yet. Are there simply directions?
We already had a compression test run and put in new spark plugs. Thanks for any help.
