the shimmy is usually more pronounced under braking with bad thrust arm bushings.

a shimmy while driving on a car with bad thrust arms is usually very slight, and usually has a root cause such as an imbalanced wheel - with bad bushings even the slightest out-of-balance condition can be felt - tighter bushings tend to keep minor vibrations more in check.

Actually...and maybe Im wrong...but that doesnt sound right. The 40-50 MPH shimmy as a result of bad thrust arms is usually when driving...not braking...I was always under the understanding that if you get shaking when you break..its the rotors.

I'm looking at a '95 525iT right now with 44K on the odo. It has a shimmy under normal braking from about 40mph. BMW inspection says it's the thrust arm bushings, but is 44K to low for this to happen. Should I be suspicious of this car because of this?
