This topic has come up from time-to-time. My mechanic recommended against them in my e28 which had higher mileage and said they would carbon up more easily and said to just stick with the original spec Bosch coppers. I've also hear talk that they can screw up the ECU but have never confirmed it & at that, I think it was in the older e12's & such. I don't always go "by the book" on many things, but as for sparkplugs & BMW coolant, I stick to what's recommended.

Here's a post from the e32 board by Max Fretter from a while ago which gives more reasoning as to how they could be a problem . . .
