Is there a way to retard ignition timing on 94 525ia? I need to do this just to pass CA emission test. It had high HC 170 ( spec=100 ppm )at idle. It has new spark plugs, and air filter already. I don't think that O2 sensor is the problem because CO for both Idle and Cruise is way below spec. On older car, if I just retard Ignition to lower end of spec, I know it will pass with no problem.
Any and all suggestions welcome.

TIA
James.
