my hid lights still work, but I have to check if the glue is still good. Xenon bulbs don't get as hot as the normal H1 bulbs (only 35 W instead of 55/60 W). Xenon bulbs also have a plastic socket, which will not transfer as much heat as bulbs with metal sockets. There is hot glue with higher temperature rating available.
