I would say go for the '94 as it has the M50 engine. There's a big difference in 2.5 engines between '90 and '94. Also BMW probably was able to sort out a number of other things during the 4 years. There are often small changes during the production run - even within one model year.

You may want to read my posting that's further down regarding the M50 engine. The '90 engine has timing belts whereas the later M50 engine has timing chains. Also hydraulic valves vs mechanical lifters for less maintenance. Lot's of reasons to chose the '94 version.
