I understand there will be a new coupe based on the next generation 5 series. The late, beloved 6 series was based on a five. The will also be a convertible.

I, amongst many others, very much miss the 6 series. The 850 did not stir the heartstrings. I hope they get it right - a proper 6er should be lithe, elegant and sporty. I can see touring Napa Valley and going to the opera house in this car and if it's the M version... then also a spin around Laguna Seca or the Nurburing.

As someone once said, a 6 series is like David Niven in a tuxedo whereas an 850 is Arnold Schwartzenegger in a tux. To carry the clothing analogy further - a 6 is Armani - not Hugo Boss. I hope Chris Bangel, et al are listening.
