My car has the resistors (which I just replaced for the same problem), rather than the sword, but the principle should be similar. The sword acts as a resistor to current flow and the amount of this resistance determines the current flow to the fan motor, hence the fan speed. On high speed, the current bypasses the sword and goes directly to the fan motor giving the max fan speed. Look in Bentley's at the wiring diagram and locate the wires where the current flows into the sword on a particular switch setting (several) and also the wire where the current flows out of the sword to the fan. On any particular setting, you should be able to create a short (with a wire) across the incoming current wire for that setting (+) and the outgoing wire to the fan (-). If the fan operates (on high in all cases) in this manner, then you are getting current to the sword and the ground to the fan (-) is also good, so the problem must be with the sword. You can also just measure the voltage potential between any of the (+) wires wires and ground. Since the fan does operate, the motor is obviously good, as well as it's ground.

question to those that may be able to help.

I replaced Mosfets, reinstalled and still only fan at position 4, high,

Is there a way to check this SWORD out to be sure it is the problem?

Is there a way to put an in line resister or variable speed control to replace existing system and wire directly to fan motor?, I would be willing to install seperate devise somewhere hidden if it would work.

Before I fork over the 150.00 or so I would like to concusivly know I am replacing the right part, does anyone elase have any suggestions?
