You definitely need a set of snow tires. I highly recommended Nokian Hakkapelita Q. I installed this set on a 15" wheels and not a single problem for me in the winter... ice... snow... blizzard... and anywhere in between. Never get stuck... Never felt slippery.

My car is not even equipped traction control and it is a 540i. I got limited slip rear end instead... you either get traction control with regular rear end or no traction control with limited slip.

Traction control with the Hakka is formidable team... it will be like driving in the summer.
