What kind of damage can occur if the oil canister is not recieving enough oil pressure due to that drain back valve not holding in the oil. I have been having the same problem intermittently, and I don't want to loose an engine, but I don't really mind if it is something stupid like the oil canister not being 100% full all of the time. Just as long as the pressure is there for the engine, I won't worry.

What is it this year - bad phase of the moon for us M30 owners??

Roger, it would seem that you are suffering from the same malaise as I. I replaced the canister housing and the problem was solved. Seven months later it reappeared and just yesterday the dealer installed a new one for me (no charge). This morning, the light went out in two seconds.

Expensive part, that canister, but you have little choice. The check valve, which is the culprit, cannot be replaced by itself. Great design!
