Yet another infernal Brake Light problem (more) (archive)

My brake lights work but the Check Panel indicates: "1 BRAKE LIGHT"

This is a different warning code than someone posted earlier. Does this error code offer any clues as to the problem?

Earlier postings mentioning possible causes were:

1. Defective brake pedal switch.
2. Bad wire in harness adjacent to hinge. The lights are not on the truck lid so the harness should not be moving or is it the hinge rubbing on the harness?

Any suggestions for a diagnosis. I rather not swap out good parts since electrical parts aren't returnable.

Thanks all!

Larry
