After driving my 1990 BMW525i to work one morning, all was well until 12 noon that day when I decided to go for lunch. I started the car and the rpm jumped to about 2000 and the check engine light came on. I shut the car off and decided to check the fault code by depressing the gas pedal 5 times within 5 seconds, of course with the ignition in the proper position. The engine light is continuously on and therefore its not flashing the code. Has anyone come across this before?
