I think this system is a good buy for a bedroom system, but if you are in the living room and you want to play it a little louder, you will definitely notice the speaker's restrictions. The sub is actually decent for what it is. This system can work well under two conditions:

1) You give them a power supply with high current and wattage (you can never really "overpower" a speaker)

2) You have a receiver/processor with built-in crossovers that you can adjust (my Lexicon has this feature and it makes it very easy to control things)
