Why do you say the problem appears on old E34/E32 only? I don't think there is anything different about the older cars other than age (my '91 has only 93k miles on it).

As I said in my previous post, buying a used canister is just asking for trouble. I think the best option is to see if the E28 unit fits and watching for Bill's bulletin regarding plugging the port.

We should probably inform BMWNA about this problem (I'll start poking around).
