I have silver tape over mine so they aint going anywhere.

Did you hit a pothole or any severe bumps?

It is possilbe to lose a wheel weight. Had it happen before. I know people who mark the rim at the location of the weights to see if any of the weights disappear. (old trick from Argentina, was to pull someones weight off their car to induce vibration. ah well.)

Shocks can go bad suddenly although in most cases it is a gradual degradation.

I suppose new shocks could reduce shimmey, but generally they just control the bounce and rebound when a control arm moves up and down.

hope this helps,

don

After changing control arms and balancing my wheels with Hunter 4 months ago - I got the shimmy ghost back.
I went to Palm Springs this weekend and when i came back - shimmy started.(God....I am so tired of shimmy)
Anyway, my thoughts are - since my car was standing 2 days in 110 F heat i suspect that weights fell down on one of my wheels, my other thought is (someone posted this before) - my shocks, i think went "south". My left shock is making weird noises (sounds like change in your pocket) and the whole front end feels loose - like i am on a boat. I remember that someone posted that new shocks eliminated the shimmy - does it make any sense????
I hope i didn't bend the wheel again.
What else (besides arms, wheel balance...etc) would give you a shimmy???
Will the "out of alignment" wheels give you shimmy?
Sorry for weird english....
Thank you for all responses
