it is amazing how many problems are caused by poor wheel balancing. many entries on this board rave about the Hunter 9700 balancing machine which does an exceptional job.

it is very likely however, given your brake shudder at those speeds that your thrust arm bushings have gone bad. many on this board purchase new arms/bushings at BMA or other suppliers who will press in new 750i bushings into new arms for you, cheaply. check out for details.

I have a 95 540ia with 73k miles recently fitted with Bils/HRs and 17" ATP Type 5 from the Tire Rack which came mounted and balanced with Kumhos. I recently noticed the dreaded shimmies at 55-60 mph and it really shudders when braking at those speeds. I've read Bruno's site on what can go wrong(scary list) and searched the archives but my question is given the brake shudder does this mean thrust arm bushings to the exclusion of other causes? Thanks for the help.
