Have you thought about doing the Chevy Vega cylinder liner thing? I think it was Korman who was putting Chevy Vega steel cylinder sleeves in Nikasil V8s, they happen to have the same bore. Maybe you could give them a call, may be cheaper than a whole engine and could end up being more reliable.


I stopped by my mechanic's shop today to check out my motor while it's still in the crate. The casting number looked familiar so I wrote it down and checked it with 530i.org. To my dismay it was 1 725 963h which means nikasil. I'm not sure what the "h" denotes at the end of the number. The shop owner wasn't there so I'll have to talk to him on Monday. [email protected]
